After more than four decades spent at our original site in Itsasu, Alki has taken on a new look, shedding its skin and setting up in its new zero-energy workshop in Larresoro. This exceptional site, now complemented with a shop and 400m² showroom, marks a major turning point in the cooperative’s history. From Tuesday to Saturday, both private individuals and professionals can discover and purchase Alki furniture collections on the premises.

Alki Shop & Showroom

An innovative showroom: a space for creation and discovery
The 400 m² showroom, designed by the Iratzoki Studio, delivers an immersive experience where curves and transparency are organised around a curtain measuring over 100 metres in length.
Here, both private individuals and professionals can discover Alki’s furniture collections, whether creations for the home, solutions for the hospitality industry or fitting out offices. The showroom is laid out with various spaces that stage different settings, for example a restaurant, lounge, projection room, library, that highlight the versatility of Alki’s creations.

A shop to enhance the experience
Alongside the showroom, there is a shop selling items that complement Alki’s collections. Although some are made on the premises, others are the fruit of partnerships with local brands. There is also a selection of objects designed by other Basque Country artisans, making this space an effective showcase for local expertise. The showroom and shop will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. On-site, enjoy a 20% discount in every article!

A zero-energy workshop

A workshop at the cutting edge of sustainability and innovation
Moving to Larresoro is a milestone event for Alki. It is a step that goes far beyond a simple relocation as it reflects the cooperative’s deep commitment to the economic and cultural development of the Basque Country, particularly through the creation of lasting, high-quality jobs.

Designed by the architectural firm Leibar & Seigneurin, the new workshop covering 8,260 m² is a shining example of energy savings and efficiency. The building’s architecture has been adapted to fit the quite sharply sloping site with a minimum land-use footprint. Working with this constraint fostered the optimisation of production organisation that, once linear, has now become circular. Both working conditions and manufacturing processes have also been reviewed and greatly improved. Thanks to high-performance insulation, temperature fluctuations and air quality are controlled, eliminating the need for a workshop cooling or heating system. The new building has been designed to take full advantage of natural light and so avoids systematically resorting to artificial light by making best use of the sun’s direction and large openings in the building’s facades.

Today, the electricity supply is 100% renewable via Enargia, the local electricity supplier. Solar panels will be installed on the building’s roof, the annual energy production of which should cover all the workshop’s energy needs.
